Meet Casey Smith – Employee Spotlight
What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?
I am a competitive power-lifter, my most recent competition was in January 2020, where I placed first in my class.
What is your favorite food? Why did you pick this as your favorite?
Thai Food! – Tom Yum or Tom Kha soup are my go-to’s. I like spicy and flavorful foods.
What are two of your favorite hobbies?
Fishing with my son Morgan and playing guitar
If you could choose any animal to be, what would it be and why?
Dog – they always seem to carry on in life with an unwavering positive attitude.
What gets you out of bed every morning?
My career in staffing. Knowing that I am able to support my son Morgan by doing what I love!
Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give your younger self?
Take risks.
What is your personal mantra?
This is the moment to begin.
When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Personal Trainer, Computer Programmer, Video Game Creator, NFL Football Player.

What kind of activities do you like to do with your friends or family?
Oregon Football (pre-COVID)
If you won the lottery and had a million dollars, what would you do with it?
Invest in assets.
What was your favorite vacation?
Hawaii
If you could have dinner with any person from any time period, who would it be and why?
My Dad – he passed away when I wasn’t the man I am today, and I would really like to talk with him again.
If you were to write a memoir, what would the title be?
A Day in the Life of Staffing – Chapter 1: Herding Cats.
What made you want to work where you’re at now?
I love helping people.
Before working at your current job, what was the most interesting job you had?
I worked at Wetzel’s Pretzels and made thousands of pretzels by hand.
What do you look forward to most when you walk into work?
Saying HELLO, to my co-workers.

What advice would you give to someone looking for a job right now?

What do you find most rewarding about your job?
When a client or candidate goes out of their way to say they appreciate the hard work I have done for them.
What led you to a career in staffing?
At the time, I was a General Manager with a disaster restoration company. Hit a ceiling there, so was looking for another opportunity to elevate, saw a job posted for a management position. Went into that staffing firm’s office for an interview for that position, they ended up asking if I would be interested in working for them as a Staffing Consultant.
What have you gained from working where you’re at?
Open-Mindedness.
What is your proudest moment at your job?
The proudest moment in staffing was when a candidate, Jesse, was on his last chance with the staffing firm I worked for at the time. I believed in him and helped him understand what he needed to do to be successful. I placed him at a local manufacturing company in an entry-level position. I kept in regular contact with him, coached him through things. He eventually got hired on. Then promoted to swing shift supervisor. Several months went by, I regularly stopped by this facility to drop off paychecks on Fridays. I usually did that around noon, so hadn’t seen him in a while. One particular Friday, I stopped by a little later in the afternoon, he went out of his way to track me down and told me how grateful he was that I gave him that chance and got him this job. He let me know that with this position and promotion he was able to purchase a home, a new motorcycle, and afford to give his fiance a proper wedding. It was really cool to see him thrive and turn his life in a really positive direction.
