Meet Selectemp Employee Spotlight Erin Lopez
What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?
I have been a freelance writer, mostly in the creative space and branding/marketing arena. One of my favorite projects was product label copy and corresponding product descriptions for varying scents of all-natural, vegan soap bars. The free samples were definitely a nice, sudsy perk!
What is your favorite food? Why did you pick this as your favorite?
Thai food in general – Because you tend to get a sweet, savory, spicy, and tangy experience all packed into one big, fragrant punch.
What are two of your favorite hobbies?
How about three? Reading, writing, and photography!
If you could choose any animal to be, what would it be and why?
A flying squirrel. I could hang-glide anytime I wanted to, I would be low profile enough to dart around unnoticed (unless I wanted to be), small enough to make a treetop canopy my own personal hammock, and nimble enough to make a quick escape.
What gets you out of bed every morning?
My terrible, screaming alarm clock; And a day ahead, full of possibilities.
Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give your younger self?
Save more of your money, Erin! Plan for the famine during the feast.
What is your personal mantra?
“It’s OK to be afraid of doing something; It’s NOT OK to not do something, just because you are afraid of it.
When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?
My own Boss – No joke; And not much has changed.
What does your morning routine look like?
Wake up and think about getting out of bed, Get up after a few rounds of toss and turn. Go downstairs and have a very large cup of coffee, and watch the local morning news for 30-minutes. Go back upstairs, shower with a side of singing, dry off, get dressed, put on real music to listen to while putting on my face, throw my hair up, grab my things, and jet out of the door.
Do you have any pets? What are their names and what are they like?
Yes. I have three pets. Two cats and a dog. Fred is a very large, Orange Tabby that had a twin brother named, George (yes, as in the Weasley twins, for all you Harry Potter fans out there) he weighs about 20 lbs, cries all night as soon as I go to bed because he misses his twin brother who ran away a couple of years ago; Fred is very much a sensitive sack of love! Mochi, or ‘Mo’ for short, is a white and grey Himalayan with ice blue crossed eyes, who was found in a dumpster, abandoned upon birth for being the runt of the litter; Mo is feisty and never backs down, he will come back to swipe at you for something you did ages ago but never uses his claws. Bosco is a brown and white Chihuahua mix that I got for (and now share with) my mother, at a yard sale in Las Vegas about 9 years ago now. Bosco never shakes, loves to play dress-up, and enjoys going on Road Trips in the RV – Very much a spoiled little fur baby!
Before working at your current job, what was the most interesting job you had?
I Vacillate between Selling Timeshare, or Designing and Selling Closets and built-in Home Storage Systems. Timeshare because of the people you meet from all over the world on a daily basis and the outlandish stories you hear from your guests as well as your co-workers . . . Designing and Selling Closet and Storage Systems because of the intimate nature of entering other people’s homes and private spaces and the things you see and hear whilst doing so.
What do you look forward to most when you walk into work?
Interacting with the people that I work with, hands down.
What is your favorite thing about your job?
The people. The employees that I am able to assist, the clients that I am able to liaise with, and the co-workers that make my workday feel not quite so much like work!

What advice would you give to someone looking for a job right now?
Strike while the iron is hot and while the wage hikes being offered as an incentive to repopulate the workforce are still in effect.
What have you gained from working where you’re at?
Renewed trust in colleagues. Increased self-discipline. A few tried and true, good friends!
