Meet Employee Spotlight Shana Barrett
What gets you out of bed every morning?
My puppies! Really though, I truly love my job and look forward to what challenges each day brings and how I personally can make an impact on our company, my team, and our client partners.
Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give your younger self?
Don’t worry about what other people think, as long as you know you did the right thing in each situation and can look yourself in the mirror that is all that matters.
What is your personal mantra?
You only have control over what you say and do, you cannot control how other people react to it.
When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?
An attorney – I love to argue whatever point of view or subject I feel strongly about!
Do you have any pets? What are their names and what are they like?
I have two dogs – Lucy is a 4-year-old YorkiePoo and Jasper is a 2-year-old Havatzu. I can’t imagine my life without them! They are little bundles of energy and goodness that are always happy to see me and have the most playful and sweetest personalities ever! They are like 2 sides of a coin. Jasper is super chill and nothing bothers him and Lucy is high-strung and feels she must protect me from all things, she thinks she is a mighty 10-pound protector.
What kind of activities do you like to do with your friends or family?
I love to spend time outdoors in the sunshine in the spring and summer and during the winters we enjoy playing games.
If you were to write a memoir, what would the title be?
Middle of the Night Thoughts – All My Best Ideas
What made you want to work where you’re at now?
I honestly just fell into staffing, I didn’t know what I was walking into. I applied for an external position and was offered an internal role based on my previous experience. More importantly what has kept me here are the daily challenges and the opportunities to impact our company, our clients, our candidates, and our team! I can’t think of anything else that carries that type of reach.
What do you look forward to most when you walk into work?
The energy! Knowing that whatever the day brings it will be busy from start to finish!
What is your favorite thing about your job?
The ability to use my unique abilities in a variety of different ways and make different impacts each day.
What’s unique about the culture at your company?
Our company truly LIVES our values. Our company values and pillars are woven into every fabric of what we do each day and all we do is measured by them in some way.
What advice would you give to someone looking for a job right now?
Be willing to explore new things and determine how your personal background may benefit a company and take a risk. There are lots of job options out there right now, look at what the job will give you beyond the paycheck.
What led you to a career in staffing?
It was a total accident. I was in the middle of a career shift for personal reasons and someone recommended I try a staffing agency. After interviewing to be placed out to a potential client I was offered an internal position. That was 11 years ago and I haven’t looked back.
What have you gained from working where you’re at?
I have learned to go with my gut and trust my instincts. I have gained so much knowledge about a variety of things that I would have never been exposed to outside of the staffing industry.
